can a Blackberry cellphone device transfer providers with just replacing a sim card? or is the phone locked to the specific service provider??

The Blackberry will be locked to the service provider who sold it, unless it has been unlocked since then. Unlock codes can be found on the internet easily and inexpensively for Blackberrys.

There's also the issue of available bands, if you're thinking of the new carriers.
Your big3 blackberry will work on any of the big3, but not on wind/mobi. And also, you might not need an unlock if you're switching brands, but not carriers (won't know until you try). e.g. Bell/Virgin/Solo, Rogers/Fido/Chatr, Telus/Koodo |
