Samsung has announced their plans and timetable for upgrading their devices (phones and tablets) to ICS.
http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Mobile-and-...NLEDP04252012B Unfortunately, as far as I can see, this is for the US only. Anyone know what will be happening in Canada? Also, the plans seem tied to carriers. I don't have my Galaxy Tab 10.1 on 4G, it is just a standalone Wifi device, so I am not clear when an upgrade to ICS would be availble for it, even if I were living in the states..... |

This is for Bell. Rogers should be similar... Still, the way it's been going, some of these could be pushed to late Q2.

Interesting - thanks!
I have to wonder if ICS will let my Tab 10.1 play 720p mkv files. It currently plays them, but not smoothly enough to watch. I find this very, very annoying, since my $69 el-cheapo 7" far east tablet plays all the video files without issue. Yet a top tier product like the Galaxy Tab 10.1 can not! |

Here is the latest update:

I've tried to update my 10.1 tab but it keeps telling me that there is no update available. Is it not available for all tabs?

Same for my 10.1 wifi. I just assume they are rolling it out incrementally so a milion devices aren't hitting their servers at the same time.........

but you would think the wifi versions of the tablets would get the update first since they would have no wireless provider linked to them.

Any word on Galaxy W? Been offered one in a trade for Blackberry I have but I have no interest in it if it doesn't get ICS.

I sure hope Rogers plans on sending the ICS update for the Note on or before July 13th. I was really hoping for June 20th, but slim chance of that happening. This waiting is really painful. I only hope it's at least 4.04 or better... :-(

July 21st...oh well, there was speculation it would be Jelly Bean, but 4.0.1? Some devices are already getting 4.0.3! No word yet if it includes Premium Suite - not holding my breath at this point.

Jelly Bean that fast wasn't realistic; the Nexus phones likely won't receive 4.1 until that timeframe. Most devices will take at minimum a few weeks beyond that to build a compatible version and then test it throughly. I wouldn't expect any non-Nexus devices to be running 4.1 until September, at the earliest.
While I'm sure the jump from 4.0 to 4.1 will be nice, the jump from 2.3 to 4.0 was huge, so Note owners should be happy to be getting that for now. |
