BSOD Stop Error - Canadian TV, Computing and Home Theatre Forums

Hi All,
Looking for some guidence with my 8 year old Toshiba Laptop.
XP won't boot up anymore keep getting this BSOD error:

*** Stop: 0x0000007E (0x0000006, 0x806A4529, 0xF78AE6E8, 0xF78AE3E4)

Sometimes when I power it on the XP boot screen comes up and it goes into scandisK mode. During the 2nd leg of the scan I get a;
"Deleting index entry Crypto in index $I30 of file 12676" then goes to BSOD with: STOP: c000021a unknown Hard Error.

I will point out that it was working fine early yesterday.
Thanks for any advice given.

Did you follow these steps

Sounds like the hard disk may be failing. I would perform the steps in post 2 first.

I got it up with my XP cd recovery.....chkdsk /r
then booted it with last known good config and she's alive again!

Thanks for the advice.
