I have an opportunity to pick up a DSR 530 from a friend who switched to cable. It would be nice having another HD/PVR but I don't want to get stuck with this unit when Shawdirect moves to MPEG4 soon. I would like to get the thoughts of the board.
Thanks Steve |

there's already channels it's not capable of receiving. if you can pick it up for under $100 and don't mind replacing it this fall go for it. brand new old stock of these is selling for $129.

I bought a second one for $85 last year. I had to reformat the disk to clean it up, and retune Tuner 2 (all from the hidden menu). Now it works like new.
