Hi there,
About to purchase a new HT speaker setup and wanted to get people's thoughts on the PSB lineup. I currently have an Energy 5.1 setup from about 5 years ago and while I do like the sound, the towers are massive. Trying to find a Canadian manufacturer with a smaller footprint that meet or beat my Connoisseur C9s acoustically. I've always bought Canadian speakers and don't think there is a reason for change. I know the Paradigm and Axiom lineups pretty well, and I love Totems, but admittedly know little about PSB. How would you rank their model line from High to Low? How do they stack up against their Canadian competition? Where can I go to audition their lineup in Central/Southern Ontario? Any other Canadian brands or really good mail-order oriented speaker companies that deliver excellent bang for the buck that I should condider? Amongst all the manufacturers I've mentioned, which line would you purchase? Assume a roughly $3000 budget before taxes thx! thx! |

I have only good things to say about PSB. I used to have two sets of Alpha bookshelf speakers, and they were great. Excellent bass, and very clear highs. I can't recommend them enough.

PSB make great speakers. Used to own a complete 5.1 set up made from the Image series (5T, 9C, 10S and Sub Zero)

During my studio days I used to own 11 pairs of PSB Century 300i. Now I still use 2 pairs of PSB Century 300i, a pair of PSB Alpha A/V, SubSeries 300 and Image C5.
For most of my clients I strongly recommend 4x Image T6, 1x Image C5 and Subseries 300.

I just built a family room in the basement and bought Imagine Towers and center speaker with inwall PSB CW262s for my wides and surrounds.
All I can say is Wow My 135W receiver went to 0dB without a hint of distortion. They are beautiful. Its hard to find any review anywhere online that does not praise the Imagine Line. I did, however, go over your $3k budget. (not by much though) 3.1 got me to about $3k. |
