"I ordered mine on Aug 30th as a $99 replacement of a 530. It left TO on the 1st and arrived in Calgary today. Hopefully it'll be here tomorrow. "
WTF!!! I ordered mine on the 24 and just got the same backorder BS! SD is really starting to p!$$ me off right now. Are they just picking names from a hat as to who gets them. This does not make any sense at all. |

The shipping order is really odd. I ordered mine Sept 1, and was told by CR that I would receive it by tomorrow.

Don't worry I already came out and basically accused them of cherry picking orders based on paid customers in relation to the fact that I ordered before some on here and have yet to receive mine.
As I stated above I agreed to the one year free rental. What's even funnier is I live about a little over an hours drive from the warehouse. Stew |

Ordered mine on the 25th, Got a tracking number last Friday and it showed leaving Calgary. I phoned Puralator and was told it takes 2 business days to deliver. Today would have been day 1 according to them. So he said I should have it tomorrow. I hope this is not all BS and I am going to be told it's back ordered.

I ordered my 630 the first day they were available and paid the full $399.
After reading about the deals here I tried to get something similar. Best I could manage was a $120 programming credit and $50 PPV credit. I sold my 530 for $220 so my net for the upgrade was $60 tax included. Definitely worth it. |

I had ordered a 630 on Aug. 15 and paid $399. The day it arrived, I saw on the forum that they were offering the $99 trade-in deal for existing 530 owners. Called them up, they agreed to a deal, but insisted I had to return the 630 to them so they could cancel the 399 charge, only then could I order the $99 trade-in.
I thought that was exceedingly stupid, but I went along with it to save $300 (in fact I was going to save $600 as I have 2 530s to trade in) Anyway, I sent back the 630 last Wed. and called to re-order on Sat. Of course, they had no record of the 630 being returned, even though Purolator said it had arrived at SD on Thu. morning. So, I called this morning. The first CSR I spoke to denied the existance of the $99 trade-in deal. Whether she was feining ignorance, or actually was ignorant, I'll never know as I insisted to be bumped to customer relations. Fortunately, all this rigamarole with the returning the 630, etc was in my file, so they started the $99 trade-in deal, but not before insisting that the deal was for ONE 530 only, and that I had to pay full price if I wanted a 2nd one. Again I insisted that I was offered the deal on BOTH my 530s. She put me on hold for a while and came back and agreed to the deal and I was able to place my order for 2 630 upgrades. Now I see the words backorder on some posts and it has me thinking. The CSR never mentioned that (perhaps because I live about 30 minutes from SD's building here in Mississauga. Anyway, after all that kerfuffel, I allegedly have 2 630s coming for less than half the price of the original $450 (tax & delivery) I was billed for one. Now as long as they work ... |

Just an update that offers are still out there as of Wed Sep 8.
I have 3 505's. I called today and spoke with a CSR who was quite nice. After he realized we had been with Shaw for 5 years, he passed me to a CR. That person stated there were no deals currently, but then offered me a new 630 for 3 months free rent, then $199 to purchase. lol Me guesses that is a deal, no? lol No return of 505's. Quite happy with this option. They also saved me $25 on hook up at new house, so will be staying with Shaw for awhile now. |

I had to return many 530s when I had problems with them and had exchanges for brand new units. I never had to return any of the remotes (I have many now), nor did I have to return any of the cables (I have many now).

Interestingly when I called shaw to ask when my unit would be shipped I was told that the pre-sold units needed shipped first and it would likely be another 7-10 days before mine would be shipped.

Just wanted to chime in with the deal I ended up with on the 630. I've been with SD since 2001 with a mid level programming package (I think my bill is around $75/month these days). I've got several 505 receivers but no 530. I started off speaking with a CSR. Said I was interested in buying a 630 but thought $399 was a bit steep. I mentioned the deal they were offering on their website to new customers ($399 less $100 programming credit less $50 PPV credit) as well as the $250 that Telus is charging for their PVR. She made a bit of an attempt to justify the $399 but didn't push it very hard. Without me asking, she said she would transfer me to Customer Relations and they would see what they could do. A very pleasant women came on the phone and offered me 2 options: (a) no charge rental for 12 months with the $199 buyout that others on here have mentioned; or (b) $399 less a $100 programming credit plus a further $10 reduction on my bill for 10 months. While both options would eventually result in me paying $199 for the 630, the free rental option was the better financial deal so that's what I went with. I should also mention that they are giving me free installation for the additional coax line I need. I bought an Eagle Aspen multiswitch off of eBay for $35 so my total cost for getting the 630 seems pretty reasonable. All in all, I feel like I got a fair deal and am happy with SD's customer service.
