Original sketch-comedy series 'Sunnyside' will premiere mid-season on City

City has greenlit the all-new original sketch-comedy series Sunnyside. With principal filming on the six-episode, half-hour series slated to get underway this September in Winnipeg, the all-Canadian cast features one of the industry’s brightest and hottest comedic talents, Kathleen Phillips. Developed and commissioned by Rogers, to be co-produced by Counterfeit Pictures and Buffalo Gal Pictures, Sunnyside will air mid-season on City. Additional broadcast details to be announced at a later date.

City's getting some new syndicated shows on September 8, according to my guide:

The Chew's new lead-in is a full-hour of Family Feud (moving from CT-I mean Yes TV), and the cancelled Katie is being replaced by a brand new game show, Celebrity Name Game with Craig Ferguson. Given that they still have Price is Right and Let's Make a Deal, I guess City really loves game shows now.

Although, Wikipedia lists CNG's premiere date as the 22nd, not the 8th. Either they pushed it up or the EPG goofed up.

Here in Montreal, there are a number of times where City Montreal is preempted for the Canadien regional games. Interestingly, those include Thursdays of 20 November and 18 October. Thursday is when The Bachelor Canada plays. Since it is not a simsub, I guess Montreal viewers will be left out of those days' episodes without any real-time alternative, unless they have time shift to City Toronto.

Now that the Tuesday edition of Utopia has been dropped, City can move The Bachelor Canada to Tuesdays. This also frees up the Thursday timeslot to simsub Mom (except when preempted by Montreal Canadien hockey).

Tuesday, Oct. 14:
The Bachelor Canada: 8 p.m. EST/PST, 9 p.m. MT, 7 p.m. CT
**New Day**

Rogers Hometown Hockey starts tonight, which means Revenge might be in danger of simsub screw-ups if hockey runs long. If you record Revenge in the eastern time zone, you should add extra time or switch to the western feed if you can.

It also looks like City TV has shelved Brooklyn Nine-Nine. They could have scheduled it Mondays at 8:30 after 2 Broke Girls, but they have scheduled reruns instead. If you want this show, you will have to watch it on FOX.

Aw crap, can't get FOX here and I love Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It'll be great to watch hockey on City, though.

#46 ·
hercules130, you're right about Montreal regional hockey on Tuesdays - I never bothered to check. I guess there's no way to avoid the problem for Montreal.

I think the reason City TV moved The Bachelor Canada to the empty slot on Tuesdays is to simsub Mom on Thursdays, since CBS will air it starting Thursday, Oct. 30.

The first season of Between, featuring six, one-hour episodes, will premiere on City and shomi in Canada and on Netflix outside of Canada where the service is available. Just noticed on zap2it that Brooklyn Nine-Nine s2e3 and e4 are scheduled for tonight at 9-10pm. Yesterday zap2it listed New Girl and The Mindy Project for 9-10 tonight, and City Toronto's PSIP guide info is still listing those two shows for tonight, but City's website is showing Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
