Watching a recorded concert from HDNet right now. I'm getting numerous audio dropouts per minute for a bit and then it will play for a minute without any and then a whole whack more. This thing would have already been smashed with a hammer if it didn't cost $600!

There are tons of threads around here complaining about audio dropouts on HDNET from many BDU's so why blame it on the 9242?

Well it may or may not be the 9242 but if I rewind and play the same segment I don't get the same dropout so it doesn't appear to be the feed, but the hardware, right?

Yep. I experience the same thing and also think it's got to be hardware related.

Default DPP

The slow channel changes on the 9242 on Dish Pro Plus is a known issue. I would expect it to be fixed in the next maintenance release in the next few months. Dish has had the same problem apparently.

At the moment, ExpressVu only offers legacy switches/lnbs and tests on that platform.

We understand that there are folks that are using Dish Pro Plus and we're planning to fix this issue.

If we find any work-arounds, I'll share it here so it can be used prior to the software release.

If Bev is aware and is doing something about fixing a DPP issue that is excellent news.

I'd gladly put up with the slow channel changes if the audio drops were fixed.

Are those with the audio drop issues using DPP perhaps? Seems some get them and other don't.

Default Audio Drop Outs

I've been running a 9242 for about 6 weeks now. I have noticed the audio dropping out for a fraction of a second quite regularly. Sometimes it is every few minutes and other times not at all.

I agree it is the hardware. If I rewind an audio skip it will play the second time.

I am using the optical output to my AVR.

Other that the audio issue I am happy with the 9242. Channels changes are fast for me.

I use the 9200 and have been running DPP for a very long time and don't ever remember a jump to live or a audio skip.

Slow channel changes appear to be a problem with all the 92xxx receivers. Do not think it is a DPP problem.

Default Audio dropouts

It is really annoying, mine has 1 sec audio dropouts on the HD channels from once every few minutes to 3 or 4 times per minute sometimes. All dropouts are gone upon rewind.
You would think the video may screw up being a lot of information, but not audio.
The channel change is fine here.

I was advising a friend on the 9242 (I own the 9200) and told him to rent only, do not buy, specifically because of this issue. It has plagued the 9200 (and been discussed many times in 9200 threads) for nearly a year with no fix in sight. This behaviour, if your unit is affected by it, is extremely annoying and something you never get used to ... you just have to tolerate it or change providers.

I'm not yet a 9242 owner, so will not post in this thread again. Just wanted to chime in here that BEV has known about this issue for a long time and either (a) don't know how to fix it or (b) choose not to fix it.

It's really a shame. The 9242 would be one awesome unit, and IMO worth its price, if it could simply playback HD recordings without glitches.
