Default RF Remote Solution for Rogers HD Digital Box

I've got a small TV and a rogers box in my kitchen. The rogers box needs to be hidden in a cupbord to stay out of sight, and since the Rogers remote is IR only, this isn't a great solution.

I assume I need to buy a new remote and possibly an RF receiver / IR Emitter, but have no idea what I'm looking at cost-wise or quality-wise. Any advice would be appreciated.

I've already looked at some of the inexpensive IR emitters, but they all seem to have a dongle that has to be visible somewhere, and that won't work for this setup since it's a completely closed cupboard.

Thanks!

-Marc

You will have to run a video cable from the Rogers box to the TV. The IR extender could sit on top of the TV and run parallel to the video cable.

You don't need a new remote, just an IR repeater. Repeaters have been discussed many times in the forum - a search of this particular forum for "repeater", "blaster", "extender" etc. should find several previous threads. A search of the web for "IR Repeater" also provided me with several options. Here's one sample from the forum:

Default No Repeater

As stated in the first past, I don't want to use a repeater because I can't have anything sticking out from the cabinet. Obviously I know I need to have a video line going, but that was built in when the TV was installed (they ran the HDMI from the cabinet to the well behind the TV), but there is no way to leave a receiver sitting out in the open somewhere, just not an option.

So is there a reco on a RF receiver with an IR emitter and a paired Universal RF Remote?

That makes sense now - I didn't realize you already had an HDMI cable pre-installed.

Sorry I don't have a recommendation for a specific RF

I think this is what you need.

"Smarthome IR to RF to IR Remote Control Range Extender Kit - 433 MHz"

Tigerdirect has these on their site, not sure about in store.
