If you are interested in doing a kind of survey about the top speed with BELL DSL internet (or up to speed) your are subscribed to, compared to your actual top speed.
Using either Bell speed test or any other reliable internet speed test. Be honest, when running the test, do not use internet for something else in the same time... Here are my results. Suscribed to Qc Essentiel Plus DL 2Mbit/s UPL 800Kbit/s Actual speed test DL 2.15 Mbit/s UPL 680 Kbit/s So thumbs up for now ! p.s. Note the fastest available at my house is 3Mbit/s. with PERFORMANCE DSL BELL (the up to 7mb/s) |

At my location, in Verdun, I get 25Mbit/s down and 7Mbit/s up. I do get the advertised speeds. I know that my local loop is approximately 300m from the house, and the sync speed is at a theoretical 50Mbit/s combined up and down.

In Stoney Creek, Ontario I get the full 25mb/7mb that I pay for. It's consistent and rarely do I have issues.

That's Fibe, not DSL, totally different since it's FTTN. Let's stick to the (DSL) topic of this thread.

I'm about the same as flaminghomer. Legacy, grandfathered 5/1 unlimited profile.

I live in Lakeshore, just east of Windsor. Download is 1.4 mbps and upload is .39 mbps. Mover here in 2008 and had Rogers prior to the move. What a downgrade. Initially I was paying for 5 mbps down and found max was 2. Told Bell if that is all they can give me then I just want to pay for 2. So they lowered the price and put me on 2. Of course then it dropped to 1mbps. To get the two they put me back on 5 I gather but charged for 2 - which is all they delivered. Now it has declined to 1.4 and it is dreadfully slow.
Last year we took a lightening hit that destroyed a number of items including the DSL modem. That is when speed tumbled. A fellow from Bell told me that the internet is not like the phone and they are responsible for the line right to the DSL modem and they should solve the problem. Anyone familiar with that issue? Cogeco has cable rights in our area but will not come in because everyone has a dish. If they did I wouldn't hesitate to move all three services because Bell just does not seem interested in providing service when it effectively has a monopoly. |

Although I am on Fibe 25/10, Bell has a speed test site to check your speeds.

davidtcb This is a DSL thread, not Fibe. See Post 4. I've left your post due to the link.

You need to be careful of testing speeds. Some of the providers make sure the speed test sites are wide open so your speed looks high when in fact they throttle your speed at other sites.
