I am moving into my new place soon and currently mess around with a HTPC but have no TV subscription.
I noticed with Telus, if you buy their HD PVR, it can play live/record multiple streams at once (3 I think). I wanted to use my HTPC to control everything and figured out how to do it but I believe it requires me to purchase extra digital boxes for each stream I want. I only have one TV for now, but I believe I would need 2 Telus digital boxes if I wanted to be able to watch and record at the same time, yes? There is no way to take advantage of the multi stream capability within the box when using a HTPC to control everything? Thanks |

At the moment, if you want to use Telus Optik or satellite with an HTPC, you need a separate receiver for each input, as well as a separate input on your HTPC.
AFAIK, in Canada the only way to get multiple input streams without multiple receivers for an HTPC is via OTA or basic cable (and you'll still need a separate tuner for each stream). |

As I figured. One other question then: Is there any way to store/playback things the telus box has recorded using my HTPC? I assume not as it's likely DRM'ed up the yingyang
