Rate the brands

Don't know if this is the right forum or not, can't add to all of the manufacturers.


How would you rate the various brands for direct view, rear projection, new technologies (DLP, LCOS, LCD, etc)? Don't know about front projection at this time as resolution isn't as high as RPTV even though image is bigger.

I am looking for (1) how good is regular NTSC/cable/satellite TV picture quality? [dependent on how good line doubler is?] (2) how good is DVD picture quality? [2-3 reverse pulldown feature, etc] (3) how good is HDTV (all of them show this beautifully I guess)

I know that Pioneer Elite is the reference TV, but again this is for the elite and out of most people's budgets (including mine), so I'm looking more for ranking/rating on the more common place HDTVs.

I'm leaning towards a RPTV rather than DirectView or FPTV myself but I'm trying to investigate the brands more fully. The new technologies are a bit too expensive right now and maybe in 5-10 years I'll be able to afford them, especially after they are improved, etc.


With regards to the poll, if you answer Other maybe you can post your brand and experience (or if you have a brand on the list post your experiences I tried adding direct view and FPTV to the poll but that was too many options (same for more manufacturers) :lol: ).
